Final Fling in V-City

With the Ragnar Relay and my triathlon quickly approaching and the trip making it hard to train, I needed to get a decent run in. We headed to Stanley Park, which is one of Vancouver's most famous parks. There is the Sea Wall Trail that goes around the perimeter of the entire park, right along the water. It was ~6.5 miles around which was perfect. Steve and I got a little lost in the beginning and ran into some RedBull girls giving out RedBull. I figured I could use a set of wings for this run so I drank a RedBull...big mistake. I was burping up RedBull for the rest of the run, but I was going at a decent pace. When I was done running, I had to take a plunge into the water. There was a gigantic pool right next to the bay, but you had to pay to get in there. There were also beaches, so it looked like I was going in the bay. Now I figured the water would be pretty cold, but I was pretty hot from that run. I went down to the beach and took the plunge. It was freezing, but felt great.

We all met up back at the car and decided to head back to HoJo territory to find lunch. We found a place that looked pretty cool called Burgow. This was one of the best sandwiches I had every had. It was similar to the Green Apple Chicken sandwich that they served at Homegrown down in Newark, but better. We also got a pitcher of mojitos for some reason, and they were OK. We then went back to the hotel to shower up and then headed downtown for one last hurrah. It was about 4 PM so we figured we would hit up a few happy hours. Apparently, happy hour is not as big in Canada as in the US, but we still went with it. We went to a few places and split a pitcher then ate some burgers and Roxy burger. I tried to go healthy with mine and get a salmon burger, but it was not very good. They used Sockeye salmon, which I thought was pretty cheap considering where I was in the world.

We then decided to head back to Yaletown Brewery to give it another go. Steve was being a little fussy, but after I returned the favor of a Smirnoff Ice and gave him the official title of being commodore of the crew, he was Classic Steve. We all met a bunch of people at the Brewery, but none of them were actually Canadian. There were Aussies, Irish, and Brits, but Steve actually made one friend that was Canadian. We stayed until last call since we were having so much fun and then headed back to the hotel. Steve had somehow made breakfast plans with his Canadian friend which I wasn't happy about because I wanted to get an early start to Salmon Arm. But whatever. He said he would be back by 10 AM and he is usually good for his word. Back at the hotel, Steve and I reflected on our awesome time in Vancouver before passing out one last time in the HoJo. ULTRA day 27/39: COMPLETE.
